Mid Essex Enterprise Agency’s client, Ray Raynor of Raynor Foods, achieves a Royal connection! 13/07/10
Mid Essex Enterprise Agency (MEEA) has helped thousands of individuals realise their dream of starting their own business.
For many years, clients have benefited from the personal one to one advice given by its Business Advisors, based on a wealth of local knowledge and personal experience.
Today, “change is the norm” in the economic and social world and this has meant that the Agency has had to make changes too.
One of the more obvious changes is the recent move in location from Chelmsford College in Copleston Court, Wells Street, Chelmsford to the Essex Chronicle Building, Westway, Chelmsford. The move has meant that the Agency can now offer free client parking and consultations in a modern and spacious environment.
Mid Essex Enterprise Agency continues to respond to local business needs and as a consequence has changed the portfolio of services it provides.
Advice and support on a one to one basis is still offered for business start-ups, which continues through the first year of trading.
In addition to this, the Agency can offer support to existing businesses through Essex County Council’s ‘Fit for Lending’ initiative. The Agency will conduct and document a business ‘health check’, which can be used to apply for a loan from a financial institution, if required.
This, in conjunction with other partnerships in Higher Education and those delivering local business support services, allows the Mid Essex Enterprise Agency to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for the services its clients require.
An outstanding example of how Mid Essex Enterprise Agency can help, is Ray Raynor of Raynor Foods, who came to the Agency as a client with an idea to start a sandwich business.
From an initial order of ten sandwiches, Ray has built the business into an expanding multi million pound enterprise, which is about to open a new factory in Saudi Arabia!
Ray has recently secured a contract to supply Buckingham Palace – a real success story, which started with a visit to Mid Essex Enterprise Agency!

Mid Essex Enterprise Agency supports the local business community 13/07/10
The Mid Essex Enterprise Agency recognises the pressures exerted on local businesses due to the current economic climate.
Many of these pressures are the same ones experienced by the Agency and as a result, the Agency has had to revise its own business model in order to support the local business community and ensure a successful future.
Traditionally, the Mid Essex Enterprise Agency has focused on providing training seminars and practical one-to-one advice to those wishing to start their own business (including first year of trading) and will continue to do so.
This year, the Agency will expand its portfolio of services to include support of Essex County Council’s Bank of Essex lending initiative, whereby qualifying companies can be vetted by the Agency in order to secure a loan from Santander Bank.
New partnerships with local service providers will enable the Agency to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for business advice and support.
The Mid Essex Enterprise Agency will be working very closely with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in order to ensure the services offered by the Agency meet the needs of the business community as a whole.
Following on from last year, the Agency will continue to support local redundancy initiatives such as Chelmsford Borough Council’s R.I:S.E and Chelmsford College’s ‘Gain Skills for Business’. This involvement will provide the opportunity for participants to receive information which will allow them to consider starting their own business as a viable option.
